Shanghai and the Expo Organizer have set a very high bar for Expo 2010. 70 million visitors, 200 participants, more than 25 sponsors and partners and an active involvement by the general public. It is only with a dynamic and committed cooperation with participants that this great challenge can be met. Because of the large number of visitors expected, Expo 2010 shall schedule to provide educational, cultural and entertaining events at any time and location possible.
Our biggest challenge together is to make the entire site vibrate with aspiration for a better urban future.
The theme of Expo 2010 is "Betty City, Better Life," representing the common wish of the whole humanking for a better living in future urban environments.
The quest for a better life has run through the urban history of mankind. Through diffrent sub-themes, Expo 2010 will creat blueprints for future cities and harmonious urban life styles, providing an extraordinary educational and entertaining platform for visitors of all nations:

Inspires by the shape of calligraphic creation of the Chinese character "世" (meaning the world), the emblem projects the image of three people, you, I, and he/she, throwing arms around each other. It symbolizes the big family of mankind in harmony and happiness, and conveys the notion of the World Expo of "understanding, communication, union and cooperation". It showcases the great efforts of Expo 2010 Shanghai China to focus on the humanistic core.
Mascot:
Created from a Chinese character meaning people, the mascot "Haibao" embodies the character of Chinese culture.
The site for Expo 2010 is located at a region between Nanpu Bridge and Lupu Bridge along both sides of the Hungpu River. The Baillianjing rivulet joins the Hungpu River in the Pudong section of the site, creating a pleasant waterfront area.
The planning area within the site boundary covers 5.28km2, which consists of an enclosed area (admission by ticket) at 3.28 km2 and a surrounding utility area at 2km2.
The site is located on the outskirts of the city centre where a sound transport system is readily available and includes:
- Expressways
- Main roads
- Brisges and tunnels
- Four Metro lines under construction (connecting with great ease the Expo site with other parts of the city, such as main public activity centres)
- Traffic hubs and gateways
